Emergency Medicine

(1) Overview

The Emergency Center (Emergency Medicine) mainly provides treatments to patients who were sent to us by ambulance for various reasons, such as sudden deterioration of physical condition, worsening of chronic diseases and accidents. We have an emergency medical system to respond to the patients with moderate to severe symptoms who require hospitalization and are designated as a “Tokyo Metropolitan Government Designated Secondary Emergency Medical Institution”. We provide emergency medical care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year including holidays and night, so please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any medical problems.

(2) Policy

The Emergency Center often treats patients with acute health concerns. . Therefore, we give importance to performing a prompt and accurate medical treatment, and advise on the patient’s condition and need for hospitalization.

(3) Our Strengths

Responding to Emergency Medical Needs 24 hours 365 days

On weekdays within consultation hours, the emergency patients are managed by the Emergency Center or at other outpatient departments. The Emergency Center provides emergency medical care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. On weekdays outside consultation hours, Saturdays/Sundays, public holidays and New Year’s holidays, we provide medical treatment to the patients with acute medical needs.

We are a team with five specialties, consisting of internal medicine, surgery, cardiovascular, neurological vascular, and gynecology & obstetrics, each of which has its own shift operation to provide medical care during nighttime and holidays.

Examinations and Treatments Available at the Emergency Center
Outside of Consultation Hours

The Emergency Center provides appropriate first aid based on the examinations and/or medical tests. However, since there are limited resources during night and holidays, we may only be able to perform limited assessment and investigations at these times.

Also, depending on the on duty doctors, medical care may be performed outside of the doctors’ expertise (the doctor seeing the patient may not specialize in the area of disease of the patient). In this case, the on duty doctor will collaborate with the doctors whose specialty is in the patient’s disease or injury.

Please note that the medical care will be given after confirming with the doctors of the relevant departments and depending on the condition, we may not be able to provide medical care.

Phone Inquiries

At the Emergency Center, we are available for the inquiries over the phone outside of consultation hours. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns about the disease or injury.

When you call, please tell us your name and patient ID number (for first time visitors, your date of birth). Also, we may ask you about your current disease and medication that you are currently on so that we can provide you the appropriate responses.

Message to our patients

The Emergency Center provides treatment to those that require emergency treatment. We therefore, ask for your understanding and cooperation about the following 4 points.

  • Depending on your condition, you may need to wait as we will see the most serious cases first.
  • Given the limitation of resources outside of consultation hours, we may not be able to perform a thorough investigation.
  • There are cases when we ask you to see the departments of the relevant diseases and injuries on weekdays.
  • Prescription will be prescribed for 3 days at the most, in principle (Your medical condition and consecutive holidays will be taken into consideration for the number of the days).

In principle, the Emergency Center mainly provides urgent medical treatment. We, therefore, where possible would like to suggest you to visit us within the consultation hours, when we have the full-fledged medical care systems and to get the appropriate investigation and treatment at each department.
